FOREHEAD LIFT – A RELAXED LOOK THANKS TO A WRINKLE-FREE FOREHEAD
From a certain age, forehead wrinkles can hardly be avoided. Depending on individual predisposition, furrows may appear in the forehead or frown lines may appear between the eyebrows. A forehead lift can help you look fresher and more relaxed again. But when does a forehead lift make sense? And in which cases do injections help to treat wrinkles? The aesthetic surgery specialists at the ETHIANUM in Heidelberg can answer these questions very quickly during an examination appointment. After all, it doesn’t just depend on how deep the wrinkles have dug into the forehead, but also what result you expect and hope for.
In any case, a forehead lift ensures that the transverse wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyes are significantly minimised. Vertical frown lines between the eyebrows can also be reduced. A forehead lift often improves the position of the eyelids and raises the eyebrows. Both improvements achieve the effect of looking fresher and younger. Compared to anti-wrinkle injections, a forehead lift is often suitable in combination with other surgical procedures to rejuvenate the appearance. These include
- Eyelid corrections to remove bags under the eyes, fat pads and wrinkles
- Facelift to improve the mid to lower face and upper neck area
- Neck lift for a smoother neck area and a more beautiful décolleté
For your information, we will limit ourselves here to the surgical method of a forehead lift. We have summarised all the important points about a forehead lift for you.

FOREHEAD LIFT – PROCEDURE OF THE OPERATION
Your wishes and ideas have top priority. On this basis, a specialist in aesthetic surgery will conduct the first consultation with you. During this appointment, the surgeon will ask you in detail about any pre-existing conditions. It is also important to know whether and what medication you are taking or have any intolerances. In addition, the specialist will examine your face and forehead. Then the comprehensive consultation about your forehead lift and your wishes and expectations will begin. This is the only way to ensure that the most sensible procedure is found and that you are highly satisfied with your forehead lift afterwards. Of course, the specialist will also discuss possible risks and complications with you. You will then have as much time as you need to think it over before deciding on a forehead lift and making an appointment for your operation.
- Anaesthesia
An anaesthetist will advise you in detail before the operation so that the most suitable anaesthetic method can be found for you. A forehead lift can be performed under intravenous sedation or general anaesthesia. - The surgical methods of a forehead lift
Diese sind:- Forehead smoothing using endoscopy: An endoscope and special surgical instruments are inserted under the skin through minimal skin incisions along the hairline. This allows the surgeon to reposition, alter or remove tissue and muscles under the skin in a minimally invasive manner.
- Coronal forehead lift: This method can be used to tighten selected areas of the face in a targeted manner. The incision is made from ear to ear. The forehead is lifted and excess scalp is removed. The lifted eyebrows and forehead are fixed to the temple. This is done inconspicuously using either permanent sutures, small surgical screws or absorbable material. Due to the long skin incision, a slightly longer healing phase must be expected with this method.
- Correction of sagging eyelids: The incision is concealed in the natural fold of the upper eyelids. Further information can be found here.
- Skin closure
The skin incision is closed with absorbable sutures that dissolve over time. For optimal healing, the suture is additionally secured with skin adhesive or skin adhesive strips. - Immediately after the operation
Your forehead may be bandaged after the operation and your head loosely wrapped. This minimises swelling and bruising. A thin drainage tube will be placed for a short time to allow wound fluid to drain away. - Aftercare and result
You can actively support the healing process by applying ointments and wound care, and sometimes also by taking medication. Your specialist at the ETHIANUM will advise and inform you accordingly. Swelling and bruising may occur immediately after forehead surgery, which must heal. This can take five to ten days. You can then resume your everyday life as usual. The swelling will disappear completely after a few weeks. The incision lines will also become thinner and fade. Make sure you protect your face from the sun during this time.
