ABDOMINOPLASTY – TIGHTENING FOR A FIRMER ABDOMEN

A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, can help you to finally achieve a flat, firm stomach. Unfortunately, there are people who try in vain to achieve a flat, firm stomach by exercising or dieting. But the fat pads or sagging tissue simply do not respond. The desired effect is not achieved.

There are numerous reasons for this. In most cases, it is major weight fluctuations that prevent a flat stomach. However, age, possible pregnancies or genetics can also be responsible for not achieving a flat stomach.

This is where a tummy tuck can help. The operation makes it possible to remove excess fatty tissue and stretched skin. In addition, the muscles under the abdominal wall can be reshaped. However, there are different surgical methods for abdominoplasty depending on gender. The different predispositions require a different procedure in each case.

We have summarised the abdominoplasty procedure for you below.

ABDOMINOPLASTY – PROCEDURE OF AN OPERATION

Before going into the operating theatre for a tummy tuck, you will of course be thoroughly examined by our aesthetic surgery specialists. In addition to taking your medical history, the individual planning of the procedure will be discussed with you in detail. Please note that the timing of a tummy tuck should be chosen very carefully, as major weight changes should be avoided after the operation.

The surgical procedure:

  1. Anaesthesia
Tummy tucks are usually performed under general anaesthetic. The anaesthetist will discuss with you in advance which anaesthetic method is most suitable for you.
  2. The operation
During a tummy tuck, a transverse incision is made above the pubic bone. This incision is planned to be as short as possible. After lifting the abdominal skin, weakened abdominal muscles are tightened and excess fatty tissue and skin are removed. As a rule, the aesthetic surgeon will also treat regions such as the flanks or upper abdomen with liposuction to optimise the result. Liposuction is a liposuction procedure that makes it possible to achieve an even better contour. A temporary drain is placed to drain wound fluid.
  3. Skin closure
The skin incision is sutured using minimally invasive techniques. The use of state-of-the-art materials largely eliminates the need for stitches. The skin suture is additionally secured with skin adhesive or skin adhesive strips.
  4. Immediately after the operation
After the operation, the incisions are covered. It is also necessary to wear a compression garment. This minimises swelling and supports the healing of the abdomen. You must obtain the girdle yourself in advance. Your surgeon will inform you about this.
