The Competence Centre for Diseases and Injuries of the Upper Extremity at the ETHIANUM Clinic Heidelberg specialises in surgical procedures from the shoulder to the hand. Internationally renowned specialists and surgeons treat all impairments to the functions of the shoulder, elbow and hand at our centre of excellence.
Our specialists have been observing an increase in injuries and diseases of the upper extremities for some time now. There are numerous reasons for this. Prolonged sporting activities up to an advanced age and an ever-increasing pace of sport are just as much a part of this as work-related stress injuries. The injuries and illnesses caused to the shoulder, elbow or hand often lead to considerable disabilities in everyday life and at work and often mean a significant loss of quality of life.

In order to be able to offer you the best possible treatment concepts, we have modernised our centre of excellence for the upper extremities with the latest generation of technology. All diagnostic procedures such as MRI, intraoperative 3D CT, ultrasound and digital X-ray are now also available at our centre of excellence.
The new 3 Tesla MRI has also been added. This ultra-modern MRI enables our specialists to visualise the nerves in the upper extremities for the first time without having to visit a special university department. In addition, the 3 Tesla MRI scores with even better image quality and significantly reduced diagnosis time.
The state-of-the-art equipment and the expertise of our specialists allow us to focus on the entire spectrum of nerve surgery in our Upper Extremities Competence Centre. Our specialists treat every area of nerve surgery here, from carpal tunnel syndrome and painful neuromas to highly specialised nerve transplants.
