Radiology AT THE ETHIANUM – the latest generation of equipment for precise diagnostics

The radiology department at the ETHIANUM Clinic offers state-of-the-art and therefore the latest imaging equipment for even more precise, faster and therefore patient-friendly diagnostics. This includes a state-of-the-art MRI machine, a state-of-the-art X-ray machine and an intraoperative X-ray machine.

State-of-the-art MRI device for fast and precise diagnostics

Since November 2023, the ETHIANUM has had the most modern and powerful magnetic resonance imaging scanner on the market. The Magnetom Skyra Fit BioMatrix 3 Tesla from Siemens is currently the high-end level of diagnostic imaging. The ultrafast MRI delivers images of even higher quality than before.

This enables specialists to make an even more precise diagnosis through better visualization of tissues and organs. Even the smallest anomalies or changes in body tissue can be detected. Another impressive feature is how quickly the Magntom Skyra performs MRI examinations. A 3D image of a knee, for example, takes just eight minutes. A full-body image can be taken in just one session in under 20 minutes.

Another major advantage is the diameter of the tube. The new MRI device is significantly less narrow than the older models. It also allows the client’s head to remain outside the tube for many examinations. Furthermore, the Magnetom Skyra Fit BioMatrix 3 Tesla is significantly quieter and offers the option of watching a video program on a monitor during the examination. All these factors significantly reduce stress for the client.

X-ray machines for even more precise diagnoses – even during an operation

The radiology department at the ETHIANUM Clinic also has two state-of-the-art X-ray machines. The new Multi Impact C X-ray machine from Siemens shows images with an unprecedented level of sharpness, thus significantly improving diagnostic options. Radiation exposure has also been significantly reduced, so that this is no longer a relevant issue.

In addition, there is the most modern intraoperative X-ray unit, the Cyos Spin from Siemens. This X-ray machine brings about a significant improvement in computer-assisted operations. This applies to orthopaedic operations, for example, where the X-ray machine makes navigation much easier for the surgeon. Thanks to the extremely high resolution and the option of three-dimensional imaging, surgical procedures can be performed even more precisely and with less stress on the patient.

Feeling good all round – newly designed waiting area

The radiology team at the ETHIANUM Clinic also attaches particular importance to your well-being before, during and after the MRI or X-ray examination. The MRI at the ETHIANUM is supervised by the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology (DIR) at Heidelberg University Hospital. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Hans-Ulrich Kauczor, radiologists together with dedicated and experienced MRI assistants ensure that you feel comfortable both professionally and personally during an examination.

That is why we have freshly renovated the entire radiology area for you. You can expect a newly designed waiting area reminiscent of the lobby of a first-class hotel. A special highlight that makes the already short waiting times even easier: the comfortable chairs in the waiting area were specially made for the ETHIANUM at different heights so that hip or knee patients can also sit comfortably.

Radiology at the ETHIANUM – make appointments quickly

The best news is that the MRI machine is also available to you, even if you are not a client of the ETHIANUM clinic. While a justifying medical indication is required for X-rays due to the radiation, MRI scans are not subject to this regulation. Even if you have statutory health insurance, you have the same status as privately insured and self-paying patients.

You make your appointment and later receive an invoice, which you pay and submit to your insurer if necessary.
