INTIMATE SURGERY – THE LATEST SURGICAL METHODS FOR GENITAL AESTHETICS

Intimate surgery is still considered a taboo subject. Perhaps this is precisely why the need for information is so great. And unfortunately, the taboo sometimes also prevents necessary medical action.

This is why the topic is particularly important to aesthetic surgery specialists. With Priv.-Doz. Dr Eva Köllensperger, we at the ETHIANUM offer you an experienced, skilled plastic surgeon who is your first point of contact. The specialist knows from experience that a woman’s personal feelings, private ideas, fears and individual situation are simply part of a consultation.

In intimate surgery and genital aesthetics, the following intimate surgical procedures are possible, among others:

  • Reduction of the labia minora (labia minora)
  • Tightening or augmentation of the labia minora (labia majora)
  • Equalisation of asymmetrical labia
  • Augmentation through lipofilling (autologous fat injection) to increase volume
  • Tightening of the mons veneris
  • Tightening of the clitoral skin
  • Secondary or revision surgery after unsatisfactory procedures by previous practitioners

Our aim is to make you, as a woman, feel less ashamed to consult a specialist. That is why we guarantee absolute confidentiality in all matters and can guarantee the protection of your privacy at all times. Priv.-Doz. Dr Eva Köllensperger will provide you with comprehensive advice in all matters and address your individual situation. At the same time, we want you to feel at home in the ETHIANUM Clinic, which is one of the most modern clinics in Europe. This applies both to the treatment rooms and to your private room, should hospitalisation be necessary. Should you wish to bring an accompanying person with you, they can stay with you at any time thanks to our rooming-in service. We have summarised the most frequently asked questions for you.

“The psychological strain on women is sometimes enormous. Even with your best friend, you don’t necessarily discuss some of these issues from a medical and aesthetic point of view. You can talk about it openly in a confidential conversation – from woman to woman.”

Intimate surgery – how long does which operation take?

The times given here include preparation and follow-up.

  • Reduction of the labia minora: approx. 1 hour
  • Shortening of the labia minora with clitoral lift: approx. 1.5 hours
  • Tightening of the labia minora: approx. 1 to 1.5 hours
  • Augmentation of the labia minora: approx. 1 to 1.5 hours
  • Tightening of the clitoral skin: approx. 45 minutes
  • Reconstruction of the hymen: approx. 45 to 90 minutes

Is the operation performed under general anaesthetic?

No. All of the above procedures are performed under local anaesthetic or in twilight sleep. If you require a general anaesthetic or an inpatient stay, please contact us.

Can too much skin and tissue be removed?

An overly brash approach is a common problem in intimate surgery. Unfortunately, this is also difficult to correct afterwards. In intimate surgery, it is particularly important to proceed with the greatest sense of responsibility. That is why we always operate with restraint, tissue-sparing and extreme care.

Will there be any visible scars?

In principle, every operation causes scars. In intimate surgery, these are most likely to occur after a tightening or reduction of the labia minora. We attach great importance to keeping every scar aesthetically fine and making it as inconspicuous and unobtrusive as possible.

How do wounds heal in the genital area?

Wound healing disorders are very rare in the genital area. In labiaplasty (labia majora and labia minora) and clitoral surgery. In the case of labiaplasty (labia majora and labia minora) and clitoral skin tightening, they usually only occur if there has been post-operative bleeding or the client has strained herself too early. However, if a few simple rules are observed, which you will of course be informed about, wound healing in the genital area is usually uncomplicated. It is not usually necessary to take antibiotics after the operation.

How is a labia augmentation achieved?

Augmentation means filling in lost volume. In intimate surgery for women, we work with the client’s own fat. This ensures a long-lasting, natural result. The autologous fat is harvested from a different location, e.g. the buttocks, carefully prepared and carefully injected.

Can women who have had their clitoris removed also be helped?

These procedures are very individualised, so there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Our specialist will use her expertise to help you in the best possible way. The removal of the clitoris is often the result of ritual circumcision and genital mutilation. It is rather rare for the clitoris to be completely removed. If only part of the clitoris has been removed, a reconstructive procedure can be performed to free the remaining clitoris from its scarred sheath and reposition it. However, it is very often the case that much more needs to be restored than “just” the clitoris.
