BREAST AUGMENTATION – PERFECTION THROUGH INDIVIDUAL PLANNING

• Liposuction / liposuction
  For breast augmentation with autologous fat, fatty tissue must first be harvested. Liposuction is usually performed on the abdomen, thighs and buttocks, and increasingly also on the knees – ideally where so-called “problem areas” are located.
• Preparation of the autologous fat
  Immediately after liposuction, the suctioned fat is cleaned and filtered several times until the purest body fat remains.
• Injection of the autologous fat into the breast
  To inject the autologous fat, an incision of just a few millimetres is made on the outside and inside of the breast. The autologous fat is then injected and the breast is subsequently modelled so that the fat is optimally distributed. As a rule, hardly any visible scars will remain.
• The result
  After the operation, you can immediately assess your new appearance.
  In the first few days and weeks after the procedure, the breasts will feel tight as the skin and tissue first have to adapt to the new volume. The areas affected by liposuction may be painful and restrict your mobility in the first few days after the operation. You will wear supportive underwear (compression bra etc.) for four to six weeks to ensure the healing process and the aesthetic result of your liposuction.

• Incision
  The skin incisions are made in inconspicuous areas so that scars remain as invisible as possible. Which incision is chosen depends on the implant, the desired augmentation and your individual physique.
• Insertion and placement of the implant
  After the skin incision, the so-called implant site is created. The implant can either be placed under the pectoral muscle (submuscular implantation) or directly behind the breast tissue above the pectoral muscle (submammary/subglandular implantation). Modern procedures combine both placement options (‘dual plane technique’).
• Closure of the incisions
  The skin incisions are closed by fine sutures in several layers. Removal of the suture material is usually no longer necessary. The skin sutures are additionally secured with skin adhesive or skin adhesive strips.
• The result
  After the operation, plasters or the so-called Stuttgart belt, which are used to stabilize the position of the silicone implants, can restrict the view of the new breasts. In the first few days and weeks after breast augmentation, the breasts may be tight, painful and restrict the mobility of the upper body. In consultation with your doctor, you can resume your normal everyday life after a few days of rest. Driving, lifting heavy objects and raising your arms above your head will be possible again after a few days. After some time, the post-operative swelling will slowly subside and the stitches will fade.

The ETHIANUM was the first of two clinics in Germany to use lightweight implants, so-called B-Lite implants. We are also the only study centre for B-Lite implants with the longest experience. The implants can be used in both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. The implants are CE-certified and are produced in Germany. The biggest advantage offered by these lightweight implants is already in the name. With the B-Lite implants, the silicone implant is up to 30 % lighter in weight. This weight reduction of the implant ensures less strain on the skin and connective tissue after surgery. The implants used in reconstructive surgery are particularly heavy, as they have to replace the entire breast tissue after removal due to a tumour. Practical experience shows that patients find the lighter implants more comfortable and feel them less than conventional implants.

B-Lite implants – new innovation for significantly less risk

The B-Lite lightweight implants consist of the proven implant shell, but contain a filling enriched with hollow microspheres. While the shell corresponds exactly to the outer skin of proven brand implants, a physical combination of silicone and borosilicate was developed for the filling. This offers the same volume, but reduces the weight of the implant. The most commonly used implants at the ETHIANUM are so-called “dimensionally stable implants” of the latest generation.

The implants with this so-called coherent gel filling remain dimensionally stable and the filling cannot leak out. The lower weight of the implants reduces the strain on the breast tissue and skin. Active women in particular appreciate this fact. As a result, the breasts remain firm and beautiful for longer.

The B-Lite implants are placed either under the skin (subcutaneous) or behind the pectoral muscle (submuscular). The roughened surfaces of the implants help to significantly reduce the risk of capsule formation or slippage of the implant. Preventive examinations such as ultrasound or MRI can also be carried out without restriction when the implants are in place.
