Red veins – treatment and removal of red veins

When red veins appear visibly on the cheeks or hands, doctors speak of telangiectasias. The red veins are caused by skin ageing processes in which our vascular system is significantly involved. Both the dilation and the reduced elasticity of the blood vessels lead to reduced blood flow. As a result, the skin is also supplied with fewer nutrients. This reduced metabolism of the cells as well as the breakdown of collagen fibres and the reduced production of sebum and hyaluronic acid cause older skin to become increasingly thin. Blood vessels shine through. Red veins appear and the skin looks uneven. This is because the fine blood vessels are located close to the skin. Although red veins are not dangerous, they can disturb the visual perception.

At the ETHIANUM Clinic, experienced dermatologists treat and remove red veins. During a consultation, a detailed medical history will be taken and you will undergo a medical examination. This is because dilated veins may also be an indication of a vein disease or an inflammatory skin condition such as rosacea. Once this has been ruled out, the removal of the red veins can begin.
