BODY LIFT – GENTLE FULL BODY LIFT FOR PERFECT RESULTS
A body lift is a full body lift that can be performed by aesthetic surgery specialists. A body lift is used to remove irregular contours or excess skin on the body. These are often caused by pregnancy, ageing processes or major weight fluctuations. However, a body lift can become particularly necessary if there has been a very large weight reduction, not only as a result of a change in diet but also as a result of bariatric surgery. The body is often no longer able to rebuild the skin or refine contours on its own in the event of major changes. In all these cases, a body lift can be the right aesthetic procedure for a new sense of physical well-being.
At the ETHIANUM, we fulfil all the requirements to provide you with first-class advice and treatment. Thanks to our medical equipment, we are one of the most modern clinics in Europe. If appropriate, we will treat you on an interdisciplinary basis and can therefore guarantee all procedures in our clinic in Heidelberg. You will also enjoy a stylish environment with a first-class ambience before and after your body lift procedure. Of course, you can also bring a companion with you for the time after your operation. But the best argument in favour of a full body lift at the ETHIANUM is our specialists: all of them are experienced experts in plastic and aesthetic surgery who will operate on you using the latest medical methods.
In this short and concise guide, you will find out which parts of the body are suitable for a body lift and how we plan and perform a body lift operation.
Prof. Dr. Reichenberger – specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery, specialist in tightening operations: “Body tightening is a suitable measure when the centre of the body is sagging because the tissue is losing its elasticity. The procedure improves the shape and tension of the deeper tissue so that it can better support the skin again. Larger fat pads and excess skin are also removed.”

WHEN SHOULD YOU WAIT TO HAVE A BODY LIFT?
If you are planning a pregnancy or significant weight loss, you should hold off on a full body lift. For a successful body lift, it is highly recommended that your weight remains as stable as possible after the procedure.

BODY LIFT PROCEDURE – THE OPERATION
The most important thing before any operation is a detailed discussion with your attending physician. This anamnesis discussion will cover your wishes and expectations for a body lift, as well as the medical options and risks, which will be explained to you in detail by the aesthetic surgery specialist. You can then make an appointment for your operation. When you make your appointment, you will also be informed about which compression garments you should bring to your appointment.
- Anaesthesia
Before the operation, you will be informed in detail about the anaesthetic and the optimal preparation. A body lift is always performed under general anaesthetic. - Surgical incision
The procedure takes about three to five hours. The incision and length depend on how much excess skin needs to be removed. The specialists at the ETHIANUM Clinic will always try to make the incisions in such a way that they remain as hidden as possible or are covered by clothing.
For a complete lift of the buttocks, abdomen, waist, hips and thighs in one operation, a so-called circumferential incision is made around the entire body. This allows the surgeon to remove excess skin and fat like a lifebuoy. At the same time, the tissue can be positioned and tightened at the desired location. Supporting sutures in the deeper tissue help to fix the newly moulded contours. If you have also expressed the wish to have fat deposits removed, liposuction is also used. - Skin closure
The skin is then sutured using a minimally invasive technique. Thanks to state-of-the-art stitches that are absorbed by the body, there is largely no need to remove the stitches. To optimise healing, the suture is additionally secured with skin adhesive or skin adhesive strips. A small, thin tube is temporarily inserted to drain the wound. The incisions are also covered with bandages. - Recovery phase
Your doctor will provide you with detailed information on how to care for the surgical incisions. You will also be informed in detail about which strains and movements you should initially avoid. Of course, you will also be told what medication you may need and what your aftercare plan will look like. - The result of your body lift
You will be able to admire your new, firmer body contour immediately after the operation. It is important that you wear the compression garment carefully to minimise fluid retention. If you maintain your weight and take care of your health, you will see further contour improvements to your body over the next one to two years. Nevertheless, you should realise that a body lift cannot permanently combat or stop the ageing process.
