OUR CLINIC TEAM – THE SUPPORT BEHIND AND IN FRONT OF THE SCENES
Our clinic team is made up of people who put their heart, expertise and trust in our clients at all levels. It goes without saying that the doctors and specialists are the people in whom you place your trust first. But our surgeons and specialists know this: Without the people in the background, without their expertise and commitment, the lived clinic culture at the ETHIANUM and our claim to the quality of our treatments would not be possible.
At the ETHIANUM Clinic, we value and respect our clinical team and our nursing staff. This applies to every single employee, from administration and house management to our practice and patient management, the operating theatre and ward team as well as the staff in our in-house catering department.
So don’t be surprised if you are greeted with a smile at reception in the ETHIANUM Clinic, if you don’t see stressed and overworked staff and doctors rushing around the corridors or if you bump into your favourite nurse again and again during several stays. We are always respectful, friendly and positive in our dealings with each other. On the one hand, this has an effect on the loyalty of our hospital team, so that we have little staff turnover. Some of our employees have been part of our clinic team since the clinic was founded, others have even been involved in the planning, while others have found their dream job at the ETHIANUM Clinic for many years.
This appreciation on our part is passed on to you by our clinic team 24 hours a day, seven days a week with passion and expertise. In and under the hands of our clinic team, it is easy to feel like a welcome client, to gain confidence and to recover quickly.
You can now get to know our clinic team a little better, or even better: you can form your own impression of our dedicated clinic team during your stay at the ETHIANUM Clinic.

THE WARD TEAM – TASKS AND QUALIFICATIONS
As our ETHIANUM Clinic serves numerous different medical specialities, we have ensured that our ward team is highly competent. The basis of their professional expertise is therefore always solid training as a carer or nurse. Several years of professional experience, ongoing further training and additional qualifications round off the professional aptitude. In addition to German, some of the team members also speak English, French or Russian. An Arabic course has also been completed in order to be able to cater for our international clientele. Emergency training courses are held at regular intervals, always led by our experienced emergency physician and anaesthetist Dr Bernd Scholz. We are also consciously committed to ongoing training in hygiene. That is why our ward team is trained by the renowned Prof Dr Uwe Frank from the Department of Infectology at Heidelberg University Hospital (Hospital and Environmental Hygiene Section). Our ward team takes on many different tasks.
These are just a few that we would like to point out to you:
- Blood pressure measurements
- Changing dressings
- Administering medication
- Monitoring and supporting the recovery process
- Accompanying the ward round
- Comprehensive documentation
Some of our employees have special in-depth expertise in specialised medical fields. This is a selection of their qualifications:
- Psychology
- Oncology in pain management (pain nurse, algesiological specialist assistant)
- Wound care and wound management
- Palliative care
- Aromatherapy
- Basal stimulation
- Kinesthetics
- Bobath

Some of the pillars of our clinic team:
Viktoria Minenko emigrated from Ukraine to Germany in 2008 as a qualified nurse. However, Minenko’s training was not recognised, so she initially worked as a temporary nurse until she joined our clinic team as a ward assistant in 2010. With the great support of all the staff at the ETHIANUM Clinic, Minenko was given the opportunity to obtain confirmation of her training as a nurse through a three-month training course. And so we are delighted to see her working on the ward as an officially recognised nurse since 2015.
VIKTORIA MINENKO – WARD NURSE
Michaela Kißler has been a permanent member of the clinic team since the planning phase of the ETHIANUM Clinic. Kißler had already worked as an operating theatre nurse at the BG Klinik in Ludwigshafen for ten years before she moved to our clinic together with Prof. Dr Germann and took over the management of operating theatre nursing. A passionate horsewoman, she particularly appreciates the working atmosphere and teamwork at the ETHIANUM Clinic.
MICHAELA KISSLER – HEAD OF OPERATING THEATRE NURSING
Robert Schobert has also been part of our clinic team since the planning phase. Enthusiastic about the idea of being able to build something new as Head of Anaesthesia, Schobert left his long-term position at the BG Unfallklinik Ludwigshafen for the new role. A decision that Schobert has never regretted. On the contrary, because today his responsibilities not only include managing the anaesthesia department. Schobert is also responsible for the coordination of the operating theatre. He ensures that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Schobert also completed further training as a quality manager during his time at the ETHIANUM and since then has also been responsible for quality management in stem cell research at the ETHIANUM.
ROBERT SCHOBERT – OPERATING THEATRE COORDINATOR
AND HEAD OF ANAESTHESIA
As a molecular biologist, Dr Uwe Leimer is responsible for all ongoing activities in the laboratory and the practical implementation of research projects. As head of the research laboratory, he has built it up. Dr Leimer is supported by several technical assistants who carry out processes and analyses on the stem cells.
DR. UWE LEIMER – HEAD OF THE ETHIANUM RESEARCH LABORATORY
Ralf Brenneisen has been an indispensable part of our clinic team ever since the ETHIANUM clinic was planned. Brenneisen took over the planning and commissioning of our clinic in co-operation with many companies. To this day, as an experienced facility manager, he oversees the highly varied tasks. Economically, ecologically and in terms of well-being, he sets the course for our top quality building technology, heating, ventilation and cooling systems.
RALF BRENNEISEN – TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, HEAD OF FACILITY MANAGEMENT
Anna Maria Lombardo has been Head of Clinic Management Division II since 2020. Her responsibilities in Clinic Management include all personnel matters, facility management with the areas of wards, patient management and reception as well as services. She is the interface between the management and medical practices/attending physicians as well as the finance department. Anna Maria Lombardo studied healthcare management and was previously employed for two years as assistant to the management and medical director Prof Dr Germann.
