PREVENTIVE MEDICINE
MENTAL HEALTH AND STRESS MANAGEMENT – MENTALLY FIT AND RESILIENT
Health does not only refer to physical condition. The connection between physical and mental health and balanced stress management is recognised. Managers in particular are often under great pressure – with far-reaching consequences for their personal stress levels and mental health.
The psychological symptoms range from constant discomfort to burn-out. A permanently high level of stress, usually in combination with a lack of exercise, an unhealthy diet and other private and professional burdens, can make specialists and managers permanently ill.
Stress prevention and targeted coaching, particularly in the areas of personality development, career planning, conflict moderation, and health promotion, often help to significantly improve mental health.
And this is precisely where we at the ETHIANUM Clinic offer you professional support and counselling. Our aim is to sustainably reduce the risk of serious illnesses such as burn-out. At the same time, we have developed strategies that ensure measurably greater resilience and work efficiency without ignoring individual needs.
The head of our Department of Preventive Medicine, Dr. Felix Gramley, MD, PhD says: “This expansion of our offering is of great interest to corporate customers in particular. We are adding the aspect of mental health to our preventive healthcare spectrum at the ETHIANUM.” Dr. Gramley is particularly pleased about the expertise of Dr. Ariane Wahl in this area. “Her resource- and solution-oriented counselling helps clients to rediscover their own resources.” Dr. Ariane Wahl is an experienced coach and consultant and holds a doctorate in counselling science with a focus on executive coaching.
Dr. Wahl has been supporting the Preventive Medicine department at the ETHIANUM since 2019. Her area of responsibility includes the individual support of specialists and managers with regard to their mental health and stress management. “There are three factors that are inextricably linked: Personality, health, and career. Only individual counselling and coaching are effective when it comes to the mental health of specialists and managers.”

Contact
If you are also interested in coaching on mental health and stress management for your employees, we look forward to receiving your inquiry for an appointment via direct contact or your call for an individual consultation.
Mental health check-up
Based on the results of your physical check-up and an intensive (and of course confidential) discussion with you lasting around 2.5 hours, Dr Wahl will prepare her holistic analysis and develop an individual programme for your mental health.
What do these measures involve?
The promotion of your mental health is always based on your own wishes, needs, and personal circumstances. For example, together we reflect on unfavourable patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaviour in everyday working life. We analyse your own values. We also explore your limits and provide you with tools for dealing constructively with conflicts. Depending on your needs, we will develop strategies for coping with stress and, if you wish, discuss the prospects of a professional reorientation that is better suited to your personality.
Stress management with Firstbeat analysis
At the ETHIANUM Heidelberg, we use the Firstbeat lifestyle assessment to measure and gauge your stress level. For many years, competitive athletes and their coaches and counsellors in particular have relied on this analysis tool. It is now just as popular with top managers and HR departments.
At the centre of the Firstbeat analysis is a measurement of heart rate variability. This takes place 24 hours a day for several days. Lifestyle analysis is also included. This analyses exactly how you sleep, relax, and when you experience stress. This makes your habits visible, both privately and professionally. From the data obtained, our top physicians such as Dr. Gramley and our metal health specialist Dr. Wahl can gain reliable indications. Which negative factors need to be eliminated? Where is your untapped potential? What will improve your well-being? And what measures will lead to the optimisation of your quality of life and performance? There is no standardised approach; measuring your mental health is an individual matter.
We always provide you with specific tools. These will help you to realise your personal health by improving your resilience, recovery, and stress management. Look forward to a stronger mental you, new methods of stress management and a fit, healthy, mental life!
