‘International Centre for Hand, Elbow and Shoulder Surgery’
Neu am ETHIANUM: Das internationale Zentrum für Hand, Ellenbogen und Schulterchirurgie
[September 2024] From mid-October 2024, the expertise of the hand surgery and shoulder and elbow orthopaedics practices at the ETHIANUM Clinic Heidelberg will be reorganised and combined under the umbrella of the ‘International Centre for Hand, Elbow and Shoulder Surgery’. The surgical team, led by the two directors Prof. Dr. med. Günter Germann and Prof. Dr. med. Felix Zeifang, offers the full range of state-of-the-art therapeutic options for upper extremity surgery, including hand, elbow and shoulder surgery.
In order to offer our patients the best possible treatment concepts, our International Centre is equipped with the latest technology, both in the operating theatres and in the comprehensive diagnostics.
All diagnostic procedures, such as intraoperative 3D CT, ultrasound and digital X-ray, are available. In addition, there is the new 3 Tesla MRI, which for the first time enables our specialists to visualise the nerves in the area of the upper extremities, with even better image quality and significantly reduced diagnosis time. The state-of-the-art equipment and expertise of our specialists allows us to focus on the entire spectrum of nerve, joint and soft tissue surgery at our international centre. Here, our specialists treat everything from carpal tunnel syndrome and painful neuromas to highly specialised nerve grafting for functional replacement in every area of nerve surgery, as well as complex tendon damage and arthrosis changes in the shoulder, elbow and hand.
The International Hand, Elbow and Shoulder Centre at the ETHIANUM Clinic in Heidelberg specialises in surgical procedures from the shoulder to the hand. Of course, our specialists also make extensive use of conservative, non-surgical treatments wherever possible, to avoid the need for surgery. Particular mention should be made here of the treatments based on the Regenic® concept, which stimulates the body’s own regenerative potential.
